What is Urban Turban Academy?

Not a course.
A community.

UTA was built because the people who need AI the most are the ones being left out of the conversation. Homemakers. Freelancers. Solopreneurs running everything alone. We exist to change that — with no jargon, no gatekeeping, and no SkillsFuture required.

01

Practical, not theoretical

Every session is built around real tasks — writing, planning, managing clients, handling finances. You leave with tools you can use the same day, not slides you'll never open again.

02

Built for non-techies

Nandhitha taught herself everything she knows with no formal background. She knows exactly where the confusion hits — and how to get past it fast. That's what she teaches.

03

Accessible by design

No SkillsFuture required. Priced so that PRs, self-employed individuals, and people who don't fit the grant system can still access world-class AI education.

04

Community-first

UTA isn't a one-time class — it's a growing network of people figuring out AI together. Alumni stay connected, share tools, and keep learning long after the session ends.

Where we're going

The bigger picture.
Singapore and beyond.

UTA started with free Zoom sessions and a 20-seat bootcamp. But the ambition is larger — to build a home for AI-curious people across Singapore and grow into something this country hasn't seen before.

A living community

Not a one-time class but an ongoing network — alumni who share tools, learn together, and hold each other accountable as AI keeps evolving.

Now

A research collective

A space where practitioners — not just academics — study how real people use AI in real businesses. Grounded research from the ground up.

Near future

An AI think tank

Singapore's conversation about AI needs more voices from outside the corporate tech world. UTA aims to be that voice — for the everyday builder.

The horizon

Nandhitha Gurunath

Founder · Urban Turban Academy & Urban Turban Creatives

Carnatic singer. Vasantham Star winner. AI practitioner — entirely self-taught. Nandhitha built Urban Turban Creatives from the ground up using the same AI tools she now teaches. She started UTA because she kept meeting brilliant people — homemakers, freelancers, solopreneurs — who were being left out of the AI conversation. She's here to fix that.

Common questions

Do I need a tech background?
None at all. Both HYA and OneSuite are built for people who've never written a line of code. If you can use WhatsApp, you can do this.
Is this SkillsFuture eligible?
No SkillsFuture claim is required — and that's intentional. UTA is priced to be accessible without grants, especially for PRs and self-employed individuals who don't benefit from the standard subsidy system.
What's the difference between HYA and OneSuite?
HYA is a free 1-hour Zoom demo — great for seeing what AI can do. OneSuite is a 2-day in-person bootcamp where you build your own AI workflows from scratch. Most people start with HYA, then join OneSuite.
How do I lock in the S$200 early-bird price?
Attend the 30 June free HYA session — that's the last one before pricing moves to S$280. Early-bird seats are available on the night. Standard price of S$280 applies from 1 July.
Is UTA only for Singaporeans?
Not at all. UTA is open to everyone — citizens, PRs, expats, visitors. The programmes are deliberately designed to not depend on citizenship-linked grants.
